Darwin Street Art Festival

The Darwin Street Art Festival (DSAF) is one of the longest-running street art festivals in Australia and takes place every May/June over three weeks. The program includes events, activations, and workshops, along with seeing new murals added to Darwin's streets and laneways every year! As of 2025 DSAF boasts 149 large-scale murals painted by some of the most well-known and accomplished street artists in Australia and the world.

DSAF25 will return for its TENTH year in 2026.

We got to share amazing art by local, national and international artists with thousands of visitors to our open-air gallery on the streets - and we are the only capital city in Aus with a mural on every major city street 🔥🔥

Check out this epic wrap around toilet block project! @tarzanjunglequeen designed this series of works in Colombia during a one month artist residency - and now they’re brightening up Alawa Oval 👏

As part of the Darwin Street Art Festival cultural exchange, in partnership with @ntaustralia we supported Larrakia artists Jason and Trent Lee to get over and paint with Ryan in LA 2024. It was epic to then welcome him to the streets of Darwin for DSAF25, and we’re stoked to now have this incredible piece in Austin Lane!

When @zoueh_skotnes arrived in Australia for the @darwinstreetartfestival, he was met with a little bit of unseasonal humidity, and a 35m (115ft) wall in the Darwin sun. There’s never been a more perfect time to test the new @metaquest goggles 🌞

These use AR to assist with bringing the outline of a mural design that has already created, to the scale of the wall - removing the need for a projector or a squiggle grid… and hopefully saving some precious time, so Eric can get out bush and spot a crocodile 🐊

“My goal was to collide raw energy and elements that look out of control with refined razor sharp precision. I treated it like a carving and explored what is possible via pushing each cap, can and technique to its limit. This work is freestyle and allowed me to focus on movement and colour theory. NEW MURAL 💙💚
Taking it to the suburbs again with this epic family collab by @gindylegs and @bidjipidji_art in Malak.

“This mural is inspired by the rich natural landscape that surrounds the wall, with the thick bushland behind Leanyer sparking the heart of the design. The seasonal rhythm of the land guided the work—the arrival of the migrating geese each wet season, the towering monsoonal clouds rolling in, and the ever-present pandanus, a plant deeply woven in the Top End landscape and Aboriginal culture and use.

Through this mural, we wanted to honour the living cycles and elements of Country. It’s a tribute to the land, animals, plants and to the ongoing inspiration we find in being connected to this place.”

@artby_misspolly painted in the DSAF for the SEVENTH time this year - and completed her biggest wall yet ❤️‍🔥

“Butterflies of Kakadu celebrates the delicate beauty and biodiversity of @seekakadu that showcases a selection of native butterfly species. Each butterfly is carefully rendered and labelled, echoing the style of a natural history museum display - inviting viewers to pause, look closely, and learn.

This work is deeply personal and reflects my love for the Northern Territory’s rich natural environment. My family and I spend a lot of time camping and exploring the bush, and these experiences have shaped both my creative practice and my appreciation for the landscape. Through this mural, I hope to share that sense of wonder and appreciation for our unique flora and fauna, and to encourage others to find beauty in the details of the world around them.”

‘Mothra vs. MechaGodzilla!’
This new street art piece from @calebdude.art is one of the biggest murals in the city 🤯

When asked about its meaning, Caleb said, “It depicts a tech dystopia clashing against the flames of nature and rebirth... but deeper meaning aside, it just looks awesome.”

ART EVERYWHERE 💥 This year we didn’t just paint the walls… check out this refreshed picnic furniture on Windsurfers Corner, Nightcliff Foreshore!

This work - titled ‘Tidal Reflections‘ - was completed for the Darwin Street Art Festival by Free Space Studio, a group of 18 artists with disability, based in Larrakia Country and represented by Arts Access Darwin.

The collaborative design invites you to take a seat and feel integrated within the tropical, seaside environment of beautiful Larrakia Country; referencing ocean life, tidal beaches and mangrove habitats.

How amazing are these birds on the wall of @casuarinasquare carpark by @jordanluckyartist 👏👏 You may know Jordan’s vibrant work from the side of the Frontier Hotel last year - he had a similar strategy this year: come early and go out bush for some inspiration 😎 the end result is these two striking bird pillars that are reminiscent of the NT’s incredible wildlife 🦅
