POLLY JOHNSTONE

'For the love of reading' - AUSTIN LANE

THE ARTIST

​

Polly Johnstone is a Northern Territory based visual artist and arts educator. Her art practice includes oil paintings, acrylic paintings, watercolour paintings, pen and ink drawings, aquarelles and graphite.

 

She participated in the first ever Darwin Street Art Festival and has since gone on to participate in many of the subsequent years of the festival. Polly is passionate about creating art in public spaces for all to enjoy.

THE ARTWORK

​

Johnstone depicts a young lady reading a book adorned with the phrases: “A child who reads is an adult who thinks” and “The world belongs to those who read”.

The Darwin Street Art Festival takes place on Larrakia land, we acknowledge the Larrakia people, both past and present, as the Traditional Owners of the land upon which we live and work. We pay our respect to their Elders, past, present and future.
